New Blue Blood

Image result for royal baby

It would appear that Kate Middleton and Prince William have continued to act like a pair of royal rabbits with yet another royal baby being born on St Georges day. With this latest arrival as usual many people have had another rush of baby fever. However with each arrival there is a rising level of apathy among the people. Just looking at the news you can see that although the BBC and SKY maintain an interest in royal affairs with articles like this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43876299 and this https://news.sky.com/story/prince-charles-jokes-he-may-struggle-to-keep-up-with-grandchildren-11344903 several other organisations such as the Metro and Channel 4 have either left the issue uncovered or pushed to the bottom of their website.

This could be down to the age of their audience as the BBCs and SKYs audiences are older and more likely to be interested in the royals than the Metro or Channel 4. However I believe that as of recent times the younger generation has grown to feel that the royal family is pointless and simply takes tax payers money. I thought I would take this opportunity to explain why that is wrong.

I am not a massive fan of the royals. In fact you could say I'm positively indifferent to them. However I know how much of a huge help they are to our country especially considering that after brexit they will be one of the few things bringing money into the country. Firstly it should be said that although yes it does cost the government about £40 million a year for the royals it is often forgotten that in exchange for that the royals give all the profit from their lands back to the government which amasses to around £200 million pounds a year which is £160 in profit. Due to this everyones taxes are actually cheaper than if we had no monarch. This is not to mention the £ 7 billion that the royal families bring to the economy through tourism. This is exactly why I believe that the royal family are so important to our country as a whole.

Overall although I do get sick to death of the royal news coverage ,especially when it means other important stories get ignored, I do believe that we should embrace what little culture we actually have here. Because if we don't have the royals then what British culture do we really have? Morris dancing and tea. So that's my irrelevant two cents.
