McDonalds Hate Crime
Original Article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-42242272
In the past few years there have been mounting tensions around religion and religious expression. The Hijab is a religious expression of modesty for Muslim women as is protected as a freedom.
However this apparently isn't the case for one london branch of Mcdonalds. BBC News reported this story expressing with words such as "hate crime" which clearly shows the BBC's left wing and more accepting position on this kind of topic. However unsurprisingly this story was nowhere to be seen in the right wing daily mail and Sky news.
In my opinion as long as it doesn't hurt me or anyone else I think everyone should have the freedom to express themselves and wear whatever they want. For the store to call this Hijab a security threat is ridiculous as I bet none of the employees would look twice at a white man with his hood up.
Nice relevant article Jean-Luc but you have not explained how it links into the key concepts that we have been discussing. I think that this may have benefitted from a some more comparison and maybe an opposing opinion.
ReplyDeleteIn future i will add links to how articles represent society. For example the way this article represents race and religion. I also could've included a more right wing opinion towards a story like this
